An amazing charity that is truly making a difference!

I responded to Vanuatu as part of the medical team and had a great experience. The team was very professional, organized dedicated to the work they were doing. I was very impressed with the effectiveness of the team in getting done what needed to be done and cutting through red tape to make things happen and serve the people who needed the help.

I served as a volunteer physician for NYC Medics. The deployment was well organized, professional, and team-fucused. The logistics were taken care of allowing me to focus on quality patient care. I would be honored to deploy with NYC Medics in the future.

In May of this year I had the privilege of traveling to Nepal as part of one of the disaster medical teams sent by NYC Medics. This was my second trip with the organization, following a successful mission to Haiti in 2010. The group is very professional and organized. They are completely self-contained and do not draw off local resources when in country. This group pioneered the concept of the mobile medical team. While other groups set up clinics and wait for patients to come to them, NYCM sets up a base clinic to see patients, but also sends teams into the field to areas of reported need, reaching those unable to transport themselves to care. This model resulted in evaluating and treating many patients with significant injuries and diseases, both in Haiti and Nepal. I would be happy to go anywhere in the world with these folks on a minute's notice. Their logistics are second to none and they always made the group feel safe and well cared for. The field leadership on the ground was incredible.

Over the past two years I have deployed three times with NYC Medics to disasters over seas. Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, Cyclone Pam in Vanuatu, and most recently to Nepal in the wake of the devastating earthquake that left the country in ruins. The organization is distinguished by its dedicated staff and professional volunteers that have provided aid to thousands of patients in some of the most remote and devastated communities around the world. Without this organization many of these populations would have otherwise been overlooked or neglected and left without essential medicines and emergency medical care. NYC Medics truely stands by their mission of getting their mobile medical teams into the most remote places of the world by air, land, or sea and is an organization that truely makes a difference.

NYC Medics took a first time volunteer to remote parts of Vanuatu and made a functional international disaster response team member out of me. I love the mission of getting to remote areas that are underserved, and I love the mindset of the leaders of the organization who ask you to be a good team member first to increase the efficiency of the group. I had an amazing time, but more importantly I felt useful and well used.

Only a truly great nonprofit like NYCMedics could take a team of individuals from disparate backgrounds and, powered by the generosity, dedication, and hard work of its volunteers, place them in a remote, foreign country to bring aid and hope to our fellow human beings.

I feel honored to have worked with such an organization. Transparency and purity of purpose are all top notch. From staff to volunteers, this organization attracts people with "can do" attitudes that are critical in addressing sudden, exigent circumstances in an austere environment.

I had the privilege of working with NYC Medics after the Typhoon last year in the Philippines. We were able to accomplish things I never thought would have been possible before leaving. The group specializes in putting small and therefore mobile/flexible groups in the field which allowed for us to get to the more remote and isolated areas that large NGOs wouldn't dare try to reach. What large group would have been able to airlift groups onto the most remote island villages with the help of the US Marines and Navy in order to establish a clinic? Mind you some of these areas had not had any medical access for one year prior to the storm! This required incredible organization prior to leaving with regards to setting up the highly qualified teams with all the necessary supplies for a proposed plan. In addition, once on the ground, the highly coordinated field operations allowed for a successful, dynamic and efficient execution of the plan. Without a doubt, I would be honored to volunteer my time again with this group! The experience was amazing and most certainly rewarding. A lot more than I had ever hoped for.

What a great group! Despite their small size, they are amazingly organized. All volunteers and coordinators are motivated and hard working.
This is not your usual large disaster response team. Because they are small, they are able to deploy and create mobile clinics in otherwise hard to reach areas, so are able to take care of the outlying communities where the residents can't make it to the larger cities for medical treatment.
I went with them to the Phillipines to help out after the Typhoon. What an amazing experience!
Will definitely go with this group again.

Best damm organization one could hope to be associated with.

I have done overseas medical missions with several different organizations and my experience with NYC medics immediately following the 2010 Haiti earthquake was by far the best experience I have ever had . The organization gets providers on the ground fast after a disaster strikes when the largest contribution to the health of patients can be made. they are flexible and able to adapt on the fly to new situations as they evolve. I would not hesitate to volunteer with them again.

I encountered NYC Medics team in kenya in August this year. They conducted training in Life support courses and fire. They also empowered us to continue impacting knowledge to those who need it. This is exactly what we need , the health care personnel in kenya were equipped with knowledge and skills necessary to save life. This will go along way in reducing death, disability and preserving property.It was the only one of its kind. Dealing with disasters after they happen is good but prevention is best! They met and exceeded our expectations. God bless them.

I have the pleasure of witnessing the formation of NYC Medics -- all built on the genuine desire to help those in need - regardless of who they are, where they are, or what they believe. They are a group of truly selfless individuals, who go above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of those going through disastrous events. When I donate to NYC Medics, I am confident my funding will go to those in need and hopefully make a difference--I only wish I could give more!

I met NYCMedics in 2006 not long after their first mission in Pakistan and became more involved with the organization during the 2010 Haiti earthquake. I knew I was in for the long haul the moment I saw them in action.

From the compassionate manner in which the medical volunteers cared for injured survivors to their willingness and ability to partner with small, local or large international organizations – every aspect of their operations far exceeded any and all expectations.

Since Haiti I have taken on a much larger volunteer role with NYCM and am honored to be among such an elite group of humanitarians. Whether giving my time or financial support this organization is and will always be my go to organization.

During the tragic events in Haiti I joined NYC MEDICs as a paramedic. I had heard of their organization before I had joined from multiple members of the organization that had either been on missions before, or had been part of the start of the organization. Though I had never been part of an international relief group, I had in the past been part of other international medical education teams to various countries. My time with NYC MEDICS more than met my expectations of what a medical relief team should be. From the organization of resources both prior to departing (ie arranging supplies and travel) and once on the ground in Haiti, I was amazed at how well the advance team was able to arrange to be connected to the 81st Airbourne of the US Army for security ,as well as all the contacts that were made to help the locals with medications and surgical procedures that were needed. From contacts with the UN ,US Army and WHO,(world health organization) we were able to provide treatment to patients that may have not received care secondary to logistical and security issues that our administration had been able to overcome. I am still a member of the team and will deploy at the drop of a dime when asked ,as I'm sure it will be another amazing experience.

I’ve heard from those who have worked with NYCM, in the field, that they are dedicated, thorough and incredibly well organised. From deployment to pull-out they ensure that those in need of relief and aid receive it to the highest degree.

I can say from personal experience that this organization is extra ordinary. I have travelled quite a but to do volunteer work, albeit, it was not for disaster relief, I can see organization and mobility a core standard. This was the most efficient team I have ever worked with. We were mobile when we needed to be, we reached areas most others were unable to, and we were able to transport higher acuity patients directly to those who could continue the care.
I have never worked within disaster areas until this team, but I can say from the bottom of my heart I felt like we really made a difference.
I saw patients with open fractures left for days; the team was able to stabilize, treat, and transport from encapsulated communities that no one else was able to penetrate.
I left wanting to find the positive in all the negative around me. And I found it every day working with these people...my team!

An organization that takes all of the experience and ingenuity of NYC Medics, the best first responders in the business, and transports them directly to the forefront of communities in the worst of circumstances that desperately need the services and wouldn't have access to such highly trained and skilled rescuers under even the best of circumstances. And they work using their minds and whatever limited resources are available.

NYCMedics is an amazing organization that provides on the ground emergent care for victims of disasters, globally. The organization's greatest strength comes from its people, who are able to deploy within hours and provide truly humanitarian assistance at the highest levels of care possible. The organization integrates with those organizations and systems on the ground to provide the best possible outcomes for those in need, utilizing the least resources possible, and maximizing effectiveness and efficiency while providing the highest quality of care and compassion.

NYC Medics is a fantastic organization that is willing and able to penetrate deep into disaster zones by any method abalible to provide high quality emergency care to individuals in need. They wil go where others aren't able to go or don't dare to go. If the roads are wiped out from an earthquake, they will pack supply's and hike over rubble and even mountains to access the inaccessible. If the hospitals are destroyed, they will set up field clinics. If the local community is in ruined, the pitch tents and live among the rubble and work tirelessly alto treat many thousands of patients. This all volunteer group is highly trained, mobile and efficient. It has been a great pleasure to be a asociated with them.

Willing to go into the hardest hit places, with whatever equipment they can gather, can set up a clinic in an hour, and move it every day, trucking it through the streets, or hiking it over peaks, day and night, treating a thousand people a day, and every minute volunteered. The best people I've ever worked with. And no one has a lower overhead.

Just a fantastic organization full of highly dedicated and talented individuals. There is a huge need for more NGO's like NYC Medics

This organization is made of people that are from and in the trenches to aid others in disaster scenerios. This group gives more and makes go further the monies it operates with to get to the people that other larger ngo's and non-profits would otherwise overlook. We are all volunteers paying it forward, doing the right thing for itself and no other reward. Light, fast, direct - no red tape, no beauracracy - see a need and fill it. EMT's, MD's, PA's, EMT-P's, RN's and other health care professionals going and doing what others will not. We bring our own personal supplies to live- i.e., tents, sleeping bags, medical supplies and food to where we deploy worldwide on moments notice - and leave it all behind for those less fortunate when our mission is over - pound for pound - the greatest, toughest group of unsung hero's that ARE there when needed - to do the right thing. Pay it forward - this is by far the best charitable organization I've ever had the privilege of being part of.

I have been with NYC after the devastating earthquake in Haiti. What a fabulous group. Our trip was safe and well organised which is very important when doing disaster relief.

Volunteering with NYC Medics left a lasting impression on me that continues to guide my career. As a paramedic in 2006 I traveled to Pakistan with the group and witnessed the most selfless, hard working, and dedicated people I had ever seen working to fill healthcare gaps affecting the neediest. Our work proved to me that average people can make an effective difference rapidly and without large overhead or bureaucracy. In 2010 I again traveled with the group to Haiti where we provided care to countless disaster victims, this time as both a paramedic and a medical student. In the years between disasters I continuously am impressed by the sacrifice leadership makes both financially and with their free time to improve the organization and better prepare for the next response. Now, as a physician, I am proud to say that I was and continue to be a part of this amazing nonprofit.

I went to Haiti with New York City Medics and am proud to be a part of such an amazing group that truly serves those in greatest need. It is a unique organization that has capabilities and experiences unmatched by many larger organizations. If I had a million dollars to give away I would give it all to NYCM.

I have ventured on three deployments with nycmedics- twice in Pakistan and once in Haiti. Never have I come across a group of more dedicated and compassionate individuals than I have here. They simply go where others will not if there is any possibility that people need medical attention or humanitarian aid. Nycmedics exemplifies the very best medical care professionals have to offer and work incredibly well under the most austere conditions. I hope to be a part of it for years to come.

I was at the Vargas (Venezuela) mudslides, Bandah Aceh, and Haiti - which is where I came on board to do logistical field work for NYC Medics. Throughout all those disasters I never saw another disaster relief group works as hard as NYC Medics. Their hunger to be where nobody goes, where folks have been forgotten, is one of kind. They are frugal, smart, tough as nails, and find ways to collaborate with both government agencies and other non government agencies to effect change and save lives. I'm proud of our work in Haiti and I'm cheering this organization on in all its efforts.

For the past 20 years I have participated in surgical, medical, and teaching missions with various NGOs. NYC exceeded all my expectations when I deployed with them after the Earthquake in Haiti. There strong organization skill allowed everyone to be used in their full potential while assuring everyone members were always safe. They have a great understanding of the need that followed any disaster.

I worked with NYC medics on two occasions for disaster relief after the earthquake in Haiti. The organization and leadership during my trips was amazing. Our contribution was incredible- I couldn't believe how much we were able to accomplish! It was an honor to work with them. I recommend volunteering or contributing to NYC medics in any way possible. I honestly cannot think of a better group of people.

This is a mission driven organization that thrives on passion, not politics. Their limited funding is responsibly spent on the people the organization is dedicated to helping. The volunteers are diverse in nature, highly skilled, compassionate and creative. By way of disclosure, I am a non-compensated Board Member. I am a former New York City Paramedic; currently I work as a health care executive for a not-for-profit Hospital. It is my honor to work with NYCMedics.

The mission and the urgency always comes first. There was a team planning to be inbound to Japan well before it was understood whether or not the catastrophe would escalate. This was also without a lock-certain flight reservation to get back out of the country. That's dedication.

The group is true to their credo, fast mobile and lean. nycmedics is by far the best in resource utilization with minimum beauracracy, able to execute the delivery of urgent medical care with incredible efficiancy.
