My son had a cornea transplant in his right eye in 2017. His tissue was from Lions Eye Bank of DE Valley. They recovered, processed, and provided the highest quality tissue for my son. We are forever grateful to his donor and donor family for saying yes to organ donation. My son's peripheral vision, vision acuity, balance, and coordination has greatly improved since his surgery. You don't know what you have until it's gone. This organization welcomes correspondence between donor families and the cornea recipients. This facilitation makes so much sense to me when our families have so much to gain from one another.

Mission: The lions eye bank of delaware valley is committed to enhancing a person's quality of life by restoring or improving vision through corneal transplantation, medical research and education.
Programs: Facilitating cornea transplants through the procurement, evaluation, processing and distribution of donated corneal tissue, informing the public of the need for cornea donors, arranging for transportation, cornea research, and public relations. This program benefited approximately 1,080 people. The eye bank coordinated the recovery of 1,621 tissues from 811 donors. These recoveries resulted in providing 1,080 corneas for sight restoring or improving cornea transplant surgery. Additionally the eye bank provided gratis tissue for 67 transplant surgeries for patients who are uninsured or underinsured.
