As a someone who was diagnosed in 2020 there wasn't a lot of place I knew I could turn to for advice and support. I found TCC a few years ago, it is a great place to connect with other patients and their families who have gone through a similar experience. As well as raising money and awareness for a rare cancer which doesn't get the national attention.

It is an honor to be part of Team Cure Cholangio. The funds raised all go to research. This is a rare disease and research dollars are limited. Every dollar makes a difference. The most rewarding part of working with Team Cure Cholangio, is building the community of warriors. It is a rare disease, and bringing warriors together to share stories of advocacy and support makes a difference.

Team Cure Cholangio is an awesome charity group focused on raising awareness and funds for cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer that affects the bile ducts. The team is driven by the mission to support research efforts that aim to improve early diagnosis, treatment options, and ultimately, find a cure for this challenging disease. Through community events and fundraisers, like the Annual Quack Out 5K which i’ve had the honor of walking in. Team Cure Cholangio works tirelessly to bring attention to the needs of those affected by cholangiocarcinoma and to support scientific advancements that offer hope to patients and their families.

Running the quack out 5k was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. Jan and her crew organized an amazing event. From the storied being shared to the energy being felt, I don’t think I’ll ever experience another race quite like it. It was something my family and I looked forward to every year and am sure we will all miss it quite dearly.

Meeting Jan and the wonderful Team Cure Cholangio team at the Annual Quack Out run was one of the best events to happen to our family. We are so fortunate to be touched by the community that Jan has brought together in support of families, fighters, and angels of cholangiocarcinoma.

The Quack Out Run was an annual run that my family and I came across when searching for a way to support and cope with the loss of our dear Grandfather to this rare cancer. The energy and love put into the Quack Out 5k is unmatched to any other fundraiser I have been to. The event is extremely emotional and heartwarming for all those whose lives have been affected by this rare cancer. For those unfamiliar with cholangiocarcinoma, so much awareness and fundraising support is shared with the community.

I will dearly miss the Annual Quack Out but I am eager to see what else Team Cure Cholangio has in store.

Thank you for everything!

Team Cure Cholangio is unwavering in its mission to fund groundbreaking research on Cholangiocarcinoma and raise awareness about this rare and deadly disease. Jan and Dean’s dedication has been crucial in this effort, preventing this illness from continuing to claim our loved ones. Because of this team and the supporters behind it, they are making a real difference—raising funds, spreading awareness, and giving us hope for a cure.

When my wife was diagnosed with Cholangio back in may 2017 there wasn't tons of info about this cancer. She met Jan sometime later and bonded. Sadly I lost my wife in 2019, but I stayed in the Cholangio family so to speak. I even flew out from Oregon to volunteer for the 5K. Team Cure Cholangio is a great non profit, always helping to spread awareness and raise money for research for this often miss diagnosed cancer. Thanks Jan and team for everything you do!

I was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma in March of 2023. I had no symptoms and this cancer was only discovered while doctors were reviewing a CT Scan during a periodic checkup for another medical issue. I was immediately scheduled to meet with a GI surgeon and had several tests completed in order for the surgeon to make a thorough assessment. In April, I went "under the knife" to remove part of my liver and the cancer within. I then had 6 months of chemo to hopefully destroy any remaining cancer cells. Since then, I have regular CT Scans to monitor whether the cancer has returned since time is of the essence.

While my medical team was addressing the cancer very diligently, I was feeling overwhelmed and a little lost. Why did I get this disease? How can I prevent it from returning? I began doing research and stumbled on Team Cure Cholangio and it's founders Jan and Dean Meyer. Jan was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma 6 years ago after her mother was also diagnosed with the same disease. Jan has worked tirelessly to raise funds for research to find a cure. Team Cure Cholangio has been an important resource for me as I continue to fight this difficult cancer. Thank you Jan and Dean.

Jan and Dean are a driving force in the fundraising efforts for the cure of Cholongiocarcinoma- never taking a step back in this fight in spite of their personal ups and downs - dedicated- caring - and driven to find a cure through numerous fund raisers for the past 5-6 years. Kudos to both of them.

I was diagnosed with Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma in January 2022. I found a Facebook post about the 5K being held by Team Cure Cholangio in May and got connected with the organization through that event. I have since been a part of this organization and its founder, Jan Meyer, has become an important person in my life. Jan is a tireless advocate for warriors and the search for effective treatments. Funds raised by Team Cure Cholangio go directly to research searching for new and better drugs to cure this deadly disease. Additionally, Jan works tirelessly to help warriors find places for treatment as well as physicians who are at the forefront of developing and testing effective drugs and other therapies. She is a fountain of information and resources available to patients and caregivers. Jan is a mover and a shaker, and she inspires others to join the cause. Team Cure Cholangio has raised over $700,000 to fund research into treatments specific for cholangiocarcinoma. I am grateful to have found this source of hope.

Janice and Dean provide hope and a supportive community to families who are dealing with Cholangiocarcinoma. The level of support is indescribable - they keep us going. When my husband, Rich Diver, was sick, Janice consistently checked in - keeping Rich and me positive during a difficult time. Rich was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma in November 2020. He died in November of 2023. Without a complaint, he endured over fifty procedures and was hospitalized for more than two hundred days. With cases of cholangiocarcinoma on the rise worldwide, there is an urgent need for new treatments that benefit a broader population. While surgery is currently the most effective treatment, it is only possible in a minority of patients. Research and the need for a supportive community is imperative. Janice and Dean work tirelessly to make both happen. Thank you !

I am currently a NED cholangiocarcinoma patient. NED means, no evidence of disease. This makes me one of the lucky ones. I am also a volunteer for Team Cure Cholangio and help out with the annual 5 K. The 5k run is just the tip of the ice berg of what Team Cure Cholangio does for the Cholangion family. The money raised each year is applied directly to research into finding new treatments for this rare cancer. The reach of this group goes beyond the 5K. The team reachs out to current patients bringing hope and support so that they don’t battle alone. Janice has also taken it upon herself to bring awareness to those not necessarily impacted with her tireless campaign with her state government, bill boards, radio and TV interviews.

I also like to run and given the fact that I can participate in an event virtually makes it more accessible for my family and me to help raise money for this disease. Not only do we receive cool t-shirts for the race, but lots of cool swag too. My family looks forward to participating each year in Team Cure Cholangio and raising awareness for Cholangiocarcinoma!

Team Cure Cholangio is committed to not only raise money to support cutting edge Cholangiocarcinoma research but also to raise awareness for this rare and deadly disease. They work tirelessly to offer information, support and encouragement. Their dedication and caring spirit is unequaled.
Their major fundraiser is the Annual Quack Out Cholangio 5k. It is more than just a 5k. It is a weekend of support, love and friendship with others who are part of the Cholangio journey. There are patients, caregivers, family members and colleagues as well as researchers. There are many who return year after year to honor a loved one. My husband has Cholangio so this cause is near and dear to us. We travel from Chicago and are honored to volunteer, donate and participate in this fantastic event.

My father passed away from Cholangiocarcinoma in 2018 and we were devastated. We didn’t know very much about the disease that took our warrior away so quickly and we still feel the void of his absence. My daughter found the Quack Out Cholangio 5K by chance and luckily for us it has become a family tradition. My sister and family come down, my son and daughter run the race and I volunteer. Jan and Dean do an amazing job organizing the event but even more importantly they are so supportive to the warriors and families affected by Cholangiocarcinoma. It’s a great way of making new friends, offering support and learning new information. This race is definitely a highlight of our year and a great way to celebrate our warrior. Many many thanks to Jan Meyer for her selfless dedication and hard work! Looking forward to next year’s race !

Team Cure Cholangio’s commitment to not only raise money for research but to also raise awareness of the disease is unlike any other non-profit I have been involved with. When I was first introduced to Jan Meyer, I had never heard of this disease, which has taken the lives of so many way too soon. Their passion to educate the community and to raise money where 100% of the proceeds go towards the desperately needed research to hopefully one day find a cure, is commendable. My best friend passed away from cholangiocarcinoma in 2021. Afterwards I met the head of this great organization and was blown away by the hard work and dedication she, and the rest of Team Cure Cholangio has put into raising money and spreading awareness about this rare cancer. I was so happy to know that my friend had such a great support system in place in the form of this group. I've supported the organization by volunteering at their Quack Out Cholangio race in 2022 and have donated to their great cause. And my experience at the race has left a lasting impression. It was truly an inspiring event, and despite the tears, it was filled with love, laughter and some of the best people trying to do what they can against this monster of a cancer. I will continue my support of this amazing group.

My Mom passed away from Cholangiocarcinoma in May 2022. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that there was a 5K road race dedicated to curing this beast!!----- the "Quack out Cholangio"---which was being held on the very weekend of the anniversary of her death. It was meant to be. We packed up the whole family and went down to Delaware (from CT)!! In the process I was so fortunate to meet the mastermind behind this event--Janice Meyer. She is an amazing individual and has dedicated everything to helping people who are fighting the battle against Cholangio. She helped create my team, sign up on the website and make sure everything was all set for our team on the day of the race. As a way to process my grief I started running----a lot!!!!-----and I have participated in A LOT of 5K events. I will say that this 5K was far superior in many ways to other events. It was well organized from beginning to end and the day of the event was so meaningful just being around other families that have been affected by this cancer. The food, prizes and give aways (swag bag) were awesome. (Bonus having the event in the parking lot of a brewery!) I love the giant inflatable duck which was great for photo ops and I got to meet Janice and give her a big hug. I can NOT wait to participate again this year. Truly one of my favorite events.

Their hard work and dedication have raised much needed money that goes 100% directly to research. I now volunteer and help them with quack out 5K race for a cure. Team Cure Cholangio does great work in raising awareness about cholangiocarcinoma as well as financial resources dedicated to supporting life-saving research. The non-profit is led by those with first-hand experience with this disease who are absolutely committed to finding a cure. Last year, their fourth annual Quack Out Cholangio 5k Run/Walk raised $100,000 in this effort, and they are now preparing for their 5th annual event with hopes of raising even more. Behind all of this is the incredible Jan Meyer, the board chair, as well as her husband, Dean, who is CFO/executive director. Jan was diagnosed with Cholangio in 2018, and lost her mother to the disease in 2011. But instead of feeling sorry for herself, Jan got busy and with her husband have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to support Cholangiocarcinoma research. This is an absolutely fantastic organization and I have been pleased to support it by generating awareness through my podcast and blog at Leantotheleft.net.

Team Cure Cholangio is an amazing organization - their hearts, minds and energy are 150% focused on patients. I am humbled by the work that they do to support the cholangiocarcinoma community. They have the ability to rally support for continued research and resources in part because of their connections to the national organization, the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation, which I believe amplifies their impact.

Thank you so much Jen. We couldn't do it without the support of our industry partners, warriors and families of warriors, families who come to honor someone they love who was stolen by cholangio, local residents who continue to support us year after year and our amazing group of volunteers including Newark Rotary. #teamwork

This team does incredible work to raise money to fund research in hopes of a cure for Cholangiocarcinoma aka Bile Duct Cancer. Not only to they hold tight to their mission, but they are a welcoming, positive force for other organizations. Each year, they welcome our Let Me Run boys to their 5K which such generosity of spirit. We are grateful for their partnership and all they do for the cancer community. They are truly the epitome of a mission-driven, community-minded nonprofit.

This non-profit is very clear in their purpose. Create awareness for a terrible cancer disease and utilize all proceeds for a cure. It is an amazing experience to attend this function and see people who are newly diagnosed with bile duct cancer or those that continue the fight be surrounded by family and friends that unite for a dedicated cause.
